# Geyser anvil patch

CommandPrompter's experimental Geyser patch lets Bedrock anvil prompts use configured input and cancel materials, such as paper and a barrier. It is off by default and requires Geyser-Spigot on the same Paper server as CommandPrompter.

## Enable or disable

In `plugins/CommandPrompterPaper/config.yml`, set:

```yaml
Geyser-Anvil-Patch: true
```

In `plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml`, enable custom content:

```yaml
gameplay:
  enable-custom-content: true
```

Restart the server. `/cmdp reload` does not apply this toggle. To disable the patch, set `Geyser-Anvil-Patch: false` and restart again.

Choose button materials in the [Anvil UI settings](/commandprompter/configuration/prompts-configuration/anvil-ui.md) or [presets](/commandprompter/configuration/presets.md). Adding a new input or cancel material also requires a restart and client reconnect.

## Behavior and limits

The patch attempts installation on every Geyser-Spigot version, but compatibility is not guaranteed. If setup fails, CommandPrompter logs a warning and keeps the normal Bedrock fallback. With the patch off or unavailable, Bedrock prompts hide the cancel item and use matching input and result materials. Closing the prompt still cancels it.

The patch affects all Bedrock anvils while active, including ordinary anvils. It changes Geyser in memory and leaves its JAR untouched. Java players keep their usual prompt behavior.

Some icons need a small resource pack that CommandPrompter supplies through Geyser. Players must accept it to see those icons. The patch uses vanilla appearances and does not reproduce Java custom models or item-specific visuals such as player-head textures.

Bedrock players may see a different XP level while a prompt is open. The patch does not change their real XP. Closing the prompt restores the display.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://cyr1en.gitbook.io/commandprompter/features/geyser-anvil-patch.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
